Survey says more than 73% paints in India have excess of Lead – Do you still want paints?

Some time back a renowned newspaper did a small survey on paints in Indian market. they took a sampling of about 15 household paints and in which around 11 paints had lead content exceeded 10,000ppm (parts per million), which is a huge violation of the 90ppm limit mandate set by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Another shocking revelation according to the same survey is that the amount of lead present in the yellow paint exceeded the fatal content limit of 74,000 ppm.

Certainly these findings are quite alarming especially for Indian Households where paint job is a regular task. The high level of exposure to these toxic chemicals can be harmful for a child’s brain development. Also these toxic chemicals can trigger behavioural changes like, anti-social behaviour and can even entail irreversible damage to brain cells and central nervous system.
